Your Skin Through the Seasons: Why Your Routine Should Shift

By Alice Anzanello

Your skin does not experience the year in the same way every day.

Changes in temperature, humidity, wind, heating and sun exposure can all influence how the skin feels and behaves. A routine that feels perfectly balanced in one season may suddenly feel too rich, too light or not comforting enough in another.

This does not mean starting again every few months. Often, it simply means making small, considered adjustments while keeping the foundations of your ritual consistent.

Why Seasonal Changes Affect the Skin

The skin is constantly responding to its environment.

Cold air, indoor heating and low humidity can leave it feeling dry, tight or less comfortable. Heat and increased humidity may make richer textures feel heavier, while greater sun exposure can increase the need for diligent protection.

The goal is not to chase every minor change.

It is to notice what your skin is asking for and adjust the texture, frequency or amount of each product accordingly.

Summer: Keep the Ritual Light

During warmer weather, the skin may feel more prone to perspiration, excess shine or congestion.

This is often the season to simplify application and favour lighter layers.

Begin with the SETOSA Enzymatic Cleansing Mousse to remove sunscreen, perspiration and daily impurities without turning cleansing into an aggressive step.

Follow with the SETOSA Eye & Lip Contour Serum and a light application of the Luminous Face Elixir. Use only the amount your skin needs.

The Anti-Aging Face Cream can still remain part of the ritual, particularly at night, but you may prefer a smaller amount during the day.

Most importantly, finish every morning with a suitable broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Autumn: Begin Replenishing

As temperatures soften and humidity begins to fall, the skin may start to feel less supple than it did in summer.

Autumn is a useful time to restore consistency before winter arrives.

Continue cleansing gently, then introduce slightly more generous hydration through the Luminous Face Elixir and Anti-Aging Face Cream.

Pay attention to areas that often show dryness first, including the eye contour, lips, cheeks and sides of the nose.

The aim is not to overload the skin, but to begin strengthening the sense of comfort within your daily ritual.

Winter: Prioritise Comfort and Hydration

Winter can be especially demanding on the skin.

Cold outdoor air, wind and indoor heating may contribute to dryness, tightness and a compromised feeling of comfort. This is the season to slow down and be more deliberate with every layer.

Avoid cleansing with very hot water, which can leave the skin feeling more depleted.

Apply the Eye & Lip Contour Serum carefully to delicate areas, followed by the Luminous Face Elixir while the skin is still slightly damp.

Finish with the Anti-Aging Face Cream, using a little more than you might in warmer months. Press it gently into the face, neck and décolletage to complete the ritual.

If the skin feels especially dry, the cream may be applied in a slightly more generous evening layer.

Spring: Rebalance and Refresh

Spring often brings fluctuating temperatures, increased humidity and greater environmental exposure.

The skin may feel dry one day and more balanced the next, so flexibility becomes important.

This is a good time to reassess how much product you are using rather than immediately changing the products themselves.

You may find that a lighter application of cream is sufficient, while the Luminous Face Elixir continues to provide the hydration your skin needs.

Spring is also an ideal time to recommit to consistent sunscreen use as daylight and outdoor exposure increase.

What Should Stay Consistent All Year

  • Cleanse gently
  • Apply products from lightest to richest
  • Use only the amount your skin needs
  • Extend care to the neck and décolletage
  • Introduce changes gradually
  • Use broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning
  • Pay attention to comfort rather than trends

The best seasonal routine is not necessarily the longest one.

It is the one that continues to support your skin as its needs evolve.

Adjust the Amount Before Changing Everything

One of the simplest seasonal adjustments is often the most overlooked.

Before replacing an entire routine, try changing how much product you use.

In summer, a lighter layer of cream may be enough. In winter, the same formula may feel more appropriate when applied slightly more generously.

You can also adjust frequency. A product used once daily in warmer weather may feel more beneficial morning and evening during colder months.

Small changes can make a meaningful difference without disrupting the ritual your skin already knows.

Let Your Skin Lead

Seasonal skincare should never feel rigid.

Climate, travel, air conditioning, heating, stress and lifestyle can all influence the skin differently from one person to another.

Rather than following a fixed calendar, pay attention to how your skin feels:

  • Tightness may indicate a need for more comfort
  • Heaviness may suggest using less product
  • Dry patches may benefit from more targeted application
  • Increased shine may call for lighter layers rather than harsher cleansing

Your routine should respond to your skin—not force it into a seasonal formula.

A Ritual Designed to Adapt

SETOSA was created as a cohesive ritual, but not a prescriptive one.

Each product is designed to complement the next, allowing you to adjust the number of steps, the amount applied and the frequency of use according to the season.

Some months may call for simplicity.

Others may invite a slower, more replenishing ritual.

The constant is intention.
